Swickard Auto Group Project Brought to Kurblink by DCG One
This project started out with Kurblink producing a handful of keychains and engraved mugs for DCG One. They were providing this swag for an event set to happen a little over a week away.
Talk about packaging came up about 6 days after that first discussion. With two days left to make our delivery, we had decided a wooden crate of sorts would be awesome.
Concept approval
Two days is an extremely aggressive timeline for delivery on a project like this, but we were determined to make it happen.
Kurblink quickly submitted a sketch showing a branded wooden box and sliding lid. DCG One approved the concept and wanted to put it forward to their customer, Swickard Auto Group.
Fast execution
In order to meet deadline, a lot had to happen. Starting with a proper computer rendering, the images below show the basic steps taken to complete the project.
Rendered
Using AutoCAD Fusion 360, Kurblink rendered a solution which was quickly approved by the customer.
Parts are saw cut
Fiber lasers work well on:
- metals - engraving, marking & cutting
- ABS - marking
- slate / granite / marble - engraving
Boxes assembled
Boxes are assembled with nails, and sanded lightly to provide soft touch on the corners and edges while maintaining the look of the rough cut cedar surface.
Lids are laser cut
Lids are laser cut and engraved from high quality plywood. Edges are sanded and lids are fit to the boxes.
Filler provided
Just before the shipment was set to go out, Swickard Auto Group asked if filler would be provided. While not in the original scope, Kurblink was able to supply some craft colored butcher paper for this purpose. This is a little thing in the scheme of things, but it's exemplary of the details that make for good service.
Delivered on time
It was no small feat to make this delivery happen on such a compressed timeline. When you consider the number of people involved in making the decisions, it really speaks volumes of the great communication between Swickard Auto Group, DCG One, and Kurblink. I'm grateful and proud to have had the opportunity to participate in this project.
